Two Types of LVT Installation
LVT is available in two main installation formats:
Dryback (Fully Bonded LVT)
Dryback LVT is fully adhered to the prepared subfloor using specialist adhesive.
This method:
- Provides a solid, secure feel underfoot
- Is ideal for high-traffic areas
- Works well in larger spaces
- Does not require an expansion gap around the perimeter
- Allows for intricate laying patterns such as herringbone
Because dryback is permanently bonded, professional subfloor preparation is essential to achieve a flawless finish.
Click System (Floating LVT)
Click LVT uses an integrated locking system that allows planks or tiles to click together and “float” over the subfloor.
This system:
- Allows for quicker installation
- Some of our rigid click LVT ranges are designed to be installed over most existing subfloors and can accommodate minor surface irregularities
- Provides excellent dimensional stability
- Often includes built-in underlay to help reduce impact sound
